Frequently Asked Questions

What are your areas of expertise?

I have significant assessment experience across age levels, having worked with youth in school and clinic settings from preschool to late teenage years. I have expertise in evaluating Autism, ADHD, and early developmental differences, given my diverse clinical background including current role as coordinator in our Multidisciplinary Evaluation Clinic at Mass General Brigham. In addition, cross-cultural assessment and cultural humility are important  areas of interest, and I  previously worked as an elementary school teacher in Torreón, Mexico. I hold certifications in  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and School Neuropsychology, and I am well-informed on ways to adapt these approaches for neurodiverse children and teens.

What does "neurodiversity-affirming" evaluation mean?

Neurodiversity-affirming practices include accepting and valuing neurological differences such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or any different way of navigating life and viewing the world. I consider individual differences an enriching part of our experiences as humans!  My focus is on understanding each child's unique profile, and then helping parents and providers to support their child's growth, autonomy, and wellbeing in a nurturing, connected manner. My understanding and interpretations are informed by the experiences and stories of neurodiverse children and adults, and I bring this perspective to my evaluations.

My recommendations will identify and build on your child’s strengths and interests to improve overall well-being. Where challenges exist, I will closely consider any systemic factors or societal norms that are impacting your child and offer recommendations that may shift their environments to support their needs and learning style. At the same time, my goal is to help children build self-awareness and skills through affirming strategies and supports.

Does your practice accept insurance?

I am not contracted with any insurance companies and I do not bill insurance directly.  I am considered an “out of network provider” for many local insurance companies, however. I will provide your family with a detailed receipt that you can use to request reimbursement. Some health insurance plans, especially PPO plans, may reimburse you for payments to me. I urge you to contact your health insurance company, using the phone number on the back of your insurance card, to determine the eligibility, requirements, and limits for reimbursement.

How much does a neuropsychological assessment cost?

The approximate cost of the evaluation will be discussed at the end of the intake interview and will depend on the age, needs of your child, and whether academic testing is included in the evaluation. Costs range anywhere from $3,700 – $5,500, with payment due at the time of service.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept payment by check or credit card.

What is included in the assessment?

Neuropsychological assessment includes intake interview with parent, standardized assessment measures completed with child/teen, record review, rating scales completed by parent and teacher, communication with teachers/providers, and feedback with caregivers. Academic testing is often included as well for an additional fee.

When will I receive the report?

The report will be sent to your family within several weeks of the feedback session. Feedback occurs approximately 3 to 4 weeks after the evaluation.

What ages do you work with?

I work with children ages 18 months to 18 years.
